March 2017

Spent one week on an International ASE through Appalachian State University in the Dominican Republic building levees by hand for the local community of El Citdral. While the experience was focused on empowering the community, our group spent the week living simply and learning from the community members by completely emerging ourselves in the experience and culture.

May-June, 2016

Spent one month on a faculty-led study abroad in Poland with other students from the communication department. Study abroad focused heavily on interpersonal communication, international communication, and essential communication skills for the workplace. The month concluded with one week of classes at the University of Gdansk. The experience was designed to challenge students to navigate in unfamiliar areas and practice interpersonal and international communication skills in a hands-on setting.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Ex Officio Foundation Board Member

Aug. 2017-May 2018

As an extension of my App S.T.A.T. presidency, I was granted a non-voting position on Appalachian State University's Board of Directors, which is only offered to two students per academic year. This experience has allowed me to understand on a much deeper level the financial logistics of how a state university operates. Additionally, I have had the opportunity to attend several campus events, including a formal board meeting every three months, and make invaluable connections that will benefit me throughout my career.
